Where the Verna does better

Air conditioning

Verna: Strongly positiveSlavia: Strongly negative

Verna: “One of the most useful features this car has - ventilated seats. We are nearing peak summer right now and it's a very very essential feature to have, I guess it should be made mandatory for all cars in India.”

Slavia: “Wish the AC was more powerful, especially in summer months -- when the cabin gets really hot you have to really increase the fan speed to cool it down. Insiders say this is down to Skoda's smaller compressor.”

Dashboard layout

Verna: Strongly positiveSlavia: Mixed reviews

Verna: “the center console that's angled towards the driver, it's a lot more convenient to be honest and it's not really uncomfortable for the passenger either”

Slavia: “This digital instrument panel is terrible. It's not designed well, and it's very difficult to get even essential information out of it in an easy and seamless manner.”

Ride comfort

Verna: Generally positiveSlavia: Mixed reviews

Verna: “The suspension is soft, but because the ground clearance is low (165mm), it hugs the road, so it doesn't give the noticeable body roll a soft setup usually would.”

Slavia: “The suspension is quite stiff -- for my city driving, that's a real drawback.”

Seat comfort

Verna: Mixed reviewsSlavia: Mixed reviews

Verna: “Under-thigh support is next to none — both the 5'10" owner and the 6'2" host reviewer found no thigh support at all, regardless of height or seat position, because the seat is set elevated/high at the front.”

Slavia: “Being three abreast in the back isn't great, especially for long drives -- I found this out the hard way with the center passenger complaining a lot.”

Where the Slavia does better

Handling

Slavia: Generally positiveVerna: Generally negative

Slavia: “179 millimeters of ground clearance... you wouldn't be wrong to think it would be quite roly-poly in the corners, the good news is it isn't - it changes direction with a good amount of poise and lets you hold speed with great confidence.”

Verna: “the steering just doesn't feel as well weighted as the Honda City - it's a good steering and it's better than the older Verna, it is an improvement, but in this comparison it just doesn't give you as much confidence as the Honda City does”

Touchscreen responsiveness

Slavia: Strongly positiveVerna: Generally positive

Slavia: “The touchscreen's response is good. People say it's all-touch with no physical buttons, but it actually works very well in touch -- you get used to it.”

Verna: “You also get a 10.25 inch touchscreen now, this is a really really slick unit, it's nice, fast and feature packed.”
